Art as Life (in Black and White)

(This kick ass cover photo could single-handedly revive the black leather pant, and possibly the shag.) Diane Arbus began taking photographs in the 1940s as a young married woman in partnership with her husband, Alan Arbus. Although she came from a background of privilege and was well schooled, Arbus was not a classically trained artist when she started her career in photography. If a tree falls in my yard while I’m at Best Buy getting a new TV, will it make a sound?

I guess the cats would probably hear it. I hesitate to publicize this, but the irony given my rants against Ameren isn’t lost on me. (Save for 3 days of crabbiness, which didn’t scathe me but certainly scathed Roy, my coworkers and my friends. Sorry…

For awhile I was busy getting ready for Rock*n*Roll Craft Show and working on wedding invitations for a friend. Then I was tied up at work, doing things like, you know, attempting to start a crusade against unflattering office lighting. (Kidding. I actually do have a lot going on at work right now. But flourescent lighting really IS the enemy of anyone over 30 that gives a damn what they look like at work.) And now, when I…
